Abstract: | One of Thailand's most significant commercial fruits, durian (Durio zibethinus), is very vulnerable to the illness known as soil-borne root rot. In our research, we found that the Northern Thai Durian orchards were the source of the root rot illness. Koch's postulates were used to confirm the isolate's pathogenicity. Taxonomy and phylogeny were used to identify the pathogen as Phytophthora palmivora. The wide range of biological activities of Vernonia amygdalina are well recognized, and in this work, the effectiveness of an ethyl acetate extract of dried V. amygdalina leaves against P. palmivora mycelial development was examined. Delivery of bioactive compounds by nano- or microparticles is a well-known and effective method in contemporary research. Therefore, in the current work, several electrospray settings were utilized to examine the creation of microparticles infused with V. amygdalina leaf extract. However, it has been looked into if employing crude extract-infused loaded micro-particles is more effective than using crude extract directly to inhibit V. amygdalina growth. The study's findings demonstrated that P. palmivora may inhibit its development in vitro and causes root rot on durian and ethyl acetate extract of dried V. amygdalina leaves. Additionally, crude extract-loaded microparticles are highly effective at reducing P. palmivora growth when utilized in an in vitro environment. |
