Abstract: Chicken meat demand has been rising due to its low-fat and inexpensive attributes compared to other protein sources. However, the broiler industry in Thailand still depends on inputs and technologies from abroad, leading to the rising cost of broiler production and rising prices of chicken meat and chicken products of Thailand. Therefore, technical efficiency measurement on broiler production is a method to demonstrate producers’ capabilities to maximize the production throughput within the bounds of possibility of existing inputs. This study aimed to analyze the technical efficiency of broiler production in Northern Thailand and the factors affecting the technical efficiency of broiler production in Northern Thailand. The study used secondary data about the overview of the broiler industry in 17 provinces of Northern Thailand from 2015 to 2019. It found that the rate of change in broiler production in Northern Thailand was in contrast to other regions of Thailand through an analysis of (1) Descriptive Statistics (2) Super – efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (SE – DEA) (3) Tobit regression. The result showed that all 17 provinces in Northern Thailand performed with different technical efficiency scores. Lamphun Province had the highest efficiency score at 3.93 and Phayao Province had the lowest efficiency score at 0.70 which was still considered a high - efficiency level. Finally, the average technical efficiency score of all 17 provinces in Northern Thailand was 1.31 which was a very high technical efficiency of broiler production. Furthermore, the factors affecting the technical efficiency of broiler production in Northern Thailand were the farmer’s number of year of education, province’s average maximum temperature, and farmer’s age.
