Abstract: This research aimed to study the use of task–based teaching with digital media to develop English listening-speaking abilities and self–confidence of grade 6 students. The objectives of this research were 1) to study the listening-speaking abilities of the students during their studies and posttest by using task–based teaching with digital media 2) to compare the student’s self–confidence before and after the use of task– based teaching with digital media plans. The population was 10 students in grade 6, during the second semester in the academic year 2021 of Wat Pra Chaoluem School, Hangdong District, Chiang Mai province. The research instruments were 5 lesson plans using task–based teaching with digital media, listening and speaking tests, a self-confidence assessment form, and a behavioral observation and evaluation record form. The data were analyzed by using means, standard deviations, percentages, and relative gain scores. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis, issue summary, and descriptive explanation. The results showed that 1) the listening-speaking abilities of students during their studies by using of task– based teaching with digital media were at a good level equal 71 percent and after learning was higher than the prior learning with a relative gain score equal 57.7 percent. The learning development was at a high level. 2) from the results of the self-confidence assessment after learning by task–based teaching with digital media, the student’s self-confidence was higher than the prior learning with a relative gain score equal 74.8 percent. The learning development was at a high level. From the individual behavioral observation and evaluation record form, the student’s self-confidence was higher than the prior learning with a relative gain score mean equal 55.6. The learning development was at a high level.
