Abstract: This independent study of knowledge management aims to improve the process of obtaining an academic position for academic staff in College of Arts, Media and Technology. Objectives of the study are to i) analyze the problem of obtaining an academic position; ii) identify the knowledge needed to obtain an academic position; and iii) develop knowledge map (KMAP) for a given academic positions. The research tool in the study is knowledge engineering which is used to check your knowledge by studying, collecting information from the document and interviewing 3 experts with experience in applying technical position, and conducted an analysis of knowledge. Then, knowledge of experts will be analyzed and developed in the form of the knowledge map (KMAP). The study found that asking for the academic positions consists of three elements which are i) planning on applying for an academic position; ii) determine steps in asking for academic positions; and iii) the procedure of applying for an academic position. The applicant's academic documents should be prepared before applying for academic position. To build academic staff with the qualifications to apply for the position, the qualifications of the applicant should be checked. Also teaching plan, research publication and academic service to community all need to be consistent with the disciplines to apply for an academic position. To produce academic then be used to get an academic position, the applicant's academic placement guidelines should be based on personal history and academic performance. The main approach is that the applicant has requested to prepare their papers according to the needs of academic evaluation. And the time frame to build academic performance is also important in the creation of the conference to ensure efficiency and quality of the applicant's academic placement should be planned and set the time to produce academic course work. The reason is because the academic performance of each type requires a different amount of time.
