Abstract: Phradhamma Visutdhimongkol (Luangta Mahabua) was a Thai priest that dramatically influence social and political in Thailand over the past decade. He has brought a dramatic change in society, economy and politics in a wide range. This study will explore the political implications of his preaching since B.E. 2540 to 2554 with the purpose of comparing the content of sermons on the teachings of Buddhism, as well as other political contexts. Additionally, this study will examine the political implications of Luangta Mahabua’s teaching and social context that affected his thought, in order to obtain information about the role and implications of political capital by Luangta Mahabua. The concept of political communication will be use to analyse in this study, as well as the concept of state and religion, and the nature of Buddhism in Thailand. This study is a qualitative research that uses interpretive approach. The approach that presents here begin with the selection of 56 sermons, followed by a discussion of issues in qualitative data collection, and concluding by analyzing the result in comparison with the moral principles in Buddhist Scriptures and the political events at that period. The study found that the content of the sermon is consistent with the moral principles in Buddhist Scriptures and also consistent with the political events in certain period. This subsequently leads to the conclusion that Luangta Mahabua both actively influencing and passively influenced by society and politics. The issues of the preaching is commonly involved with himself and other people, with varied topics depend on people close to him during that time. The study also found that Luangta Mahabua is fully capable in all communication components based on the concept of political communication and the concept of cultural institutions that ties with elite society. The political implications in his preaching include characteristics of citizen and leader, and proper social and political environment according to “Dhamma” as defined by Luangta Mahabua
