Abstract: Patients with mood disorders who are at risk of suicide often exhibit deficits in recognizing internal and external support sources that could help strengthen their mental resilience. These deficits include negative self-perception, feelings of inadequacy, lack of trust, impaired relationships with others, and poor self-problem-solving skills. Consequently, these patients face a heightened risk of suicide. This quasi-experimental research aimed to examine the effects of a group resilience enhancement program on the suicide risk of patients with mood disorders. The sample consisted of 34 patients, both male and female, aged between 25-59 years, diagnosed with mood disorders (F31.x, F32.x) according to the ICD-10 criteria, and receiving treatment in the inpatient department of a psychiatric hospital under the Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health. The participants were divided into an experimental group and a control group, each consisting of 17 patients. The experimental group participated in the Group Resilience Enhancement Program, which included 6 sessions, each lasting 45-60 minutes, held twice a week for 3 consecutive weeks. Data were collected using a personal information questionnaire and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I) for suicide risk assessment. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA with repeated measures, and independent t-test statistics. The results showed that: 1. The suicide risk scores of patients with mood disorders in the experimental group were significantly lower after 1 month and 2 months of receiving the group resilience enhancement program compared to their pre-program scores, with statistical significance at .05. 2. The suicide risk scores of the experimental group were significantly lower after 1 month and 2 months of receiving the mental resilience enhancement program compared to the control group which received standard nursing care, with statistical significance at .05. 3. There was no significant difference in the suicide risk scores of the experimental group between the 1-month and 2-month follow-up periods. These findings indicate that the Group Resilience Enhancement Program effectively reduces suicide risk in patients with mood disorders. Therefore, this program should be implemented to reduce suicide risk in this patient population.
