Abstract: This research aimed tostudy the using of inductive teaching with digital textbook to enhance English communication competency and self-directed learning of grade 6 students.The objectives of this research were 1)to develop and evaluate lesson plans using inductive teaching with digital textbooks to enhance grade 6 students' English communication competency and self-directed learning,2)to design digital textbooks integrated with inductive teaching to enhance grade 6 students' English communication competency and self-directedlearning, 3)to comparegrade 6 students' English communication before and after instruction using inductive teaching with digital textbooks, and 4)to compare grade 6 students' self-directed learning before and after instruction using inductive teaching with digital textbooks.The population were 29 students in grade 6 from Ban Pa Mued School, Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai Province, in the second semester of the 2023 academic year.The research instruments werelesson plansusing inductive teaching withdigital textbooks,digital textbooks,an English communication competency evaluation form, a self-directed learning evaluation form, and an English communication competency test.The data were analyzed using means and standard deviations. The results showed that 1)the overall quality of the lesson plans developed using inductive teaching methods with digital textbooks was rated as very good(mean 4.81 and standard deviation 0.04).2)The overall quality of the digital textbooks used with inductive teachingmethods was rated as very good(mean 4.90 and standard deviation 0.05).3)English communication competency of sixth-grade students significantly improved after using inductive teaching methods and digital textbooks, progressing from the developing levelto the competent level.4)Self-directed learning competency of sixth-grade students significantly improved after using inductive teaching methods with digital textbooks, progressing from the developing level to the competent level.
