Abstract: | Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) serve as a primary mechanism for promoting community health in parallel with healthcare personnel. They face changing situations and heavy workloads, which may lead to stress and psychological distress. Resilient coping may reduce psychological distress. The objective of this correlational research was to study the levels of resilient coping and psychological distress, and the relationship between resilient coping and psychological distress in VHVs. The sample group consisted of 384 VHVs. The data collection tools included: 1) a personal information questionnaire; 2) the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS); and 3) the Kessler Psychological Distress Scales (K10). Data analysis used both inferential statistics and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. The research findings were as follows: 1) The majority of volunteer health workers demonstrated resilient coping at a low (58.63%), moderate (10.2%), or high (11.2%) level. 2) Volunteer health workers had normal levels of psychological distress at 57% with abnormal levels categorized as mild (22.4%), moderate (18.2%), and severe distress (2.3%). 3) There was a negative correlation between resilient coping and psychological distress among volunteer health workers, with statistical significance at the level of .05 (r = -.138). The findings of this research can serve as foundational data for promoting resilient coping in Village Health Volunteers, which may help reduce the incidence of psychological distress. |
