Abstract: | The objectives of this research were: 1. To study the production conditions needed for production promotion and problems in producing Phulae pineapple in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. 2. To analyze the relationship between basic personal characteristics, economics, society and some pineapple production conditions and the need to promote Phulae pineapple production by farmers in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. and 3. To provide recommendations obtained from analysis to promote farmers' knowledge in Phulae pineapple production. There were 227 Phulae pineapple farmers in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. The sample size was determined at 95% using Taro Yamane's formula. The researcher used the formula to determine proportions from an appropriate sample, yielding a sample size of 145 people. Data were analyzed using statistics such as percentage, average, maximum, minimum, deviation and hypothesis testing when using multiple regression analysis. According to the findings of the study, farmers who grow Phulae pineapple are 51.00 percent male, with an average age of 54.90 years, 29.70 percent graduated from primary school, 52.40 percent grow only Phulae pineapple, the average household has 4.22 people, the average experience in growing Phulae pineapples is 11.50 years, and 74.50 percent of farmers decide to grow Phulae pineapple, 72.40 percent have land for pineapple cultivation, 57.20 percent have land and 81.40 percent use their financial resources. Farmers sold Phulae pineapples for an average of 22,516.55 baht per production cycle in 2021. Every year, there are two production cycles. The average yield per production cycle is 917.93 kilograms. However, 96.60 percent of farmers received information about growing pineapples from other farmers, and 85.50 percent had yet to contact agricultural extension officers. Farmers have a low level of need for knowledge in pineapple production ("X" ̅= 1.52) and a low level of demand for knowledge transfer through agricultural promotion methods in the production of Phulae pineapple ("X" ̅ = 1.40). The hypothesis testing of factors related to farmers' need for knowledge in Phulae pineapple production (Y1) discovered a positive relationship between one independent variable and the dependent variable, which was statistically significant at the 0.01 level; these include the source of funds for cultivation (Sig. = 0.008). Two variables have a negative relationship with the dependent variable with statistical significance at the 0.05 level: age (Sig. = 0.011) and the amount of production (Sig. = 0.050). An analysis of factors related to the desire to receive knowledge transfer through agricultural promotion methods (Y2) found that two independent variables had a significant positive relationship with the dependent variable. Statistically, at the 0.01 level was the source of funds for cultivation (Sig. = 0.008), and the variable with a negative relationship with the dependent variable with statistical significance at the 0.01 level was age (Sig. = 0.005). Phulae pineapple production faces several problems, such as low production prices 89.00 percent, insufficient funding for growth 50.30 percent, fertilizer 46.20 percent, intermediaries 39.30 percent, labor 30.30 percent, low productivity 28.10 percent, product quality not meeting market demand 22.10 percent, weeds 21.40 percent, product transportation 16.60 percent and insufficient market to sale 4.80 percent. Suggestions from a sample group of Phulae pineapple farmers: 1) Most farmers suggested that relevant government agencies assist with the price guarantee. 2) The appropriate government agencies come and assist in providing knowledge on the use of fertilizer or in producing fertilizer for one's use to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and the cost of purchasing fertilizer. 3) Farmers would like relevant government agencies to assist in promoting Phulae pineapple processing and 4) Farmers would like relevant officials or agencies to visit the area regularly. |
