Abstract: | The effect of graphene decoration with flame-spray-made Zn2SnO4 nanoparticles-based sensors on selective gas-sensing performances toward formic acid (HCOOH) has been studied for the first time. These effective sensing material-based VOAs gas sensors were prepared by the composition between spinel Zn2SnO4 nanoparticle achieved by flame spray pyrolysis and graphene loaded with 0.2–5 wt% produced by the electrolytic exfoliation process. Structural, physical, and chemical properties were investigated using X-ray diffractometer analysis, Raman spectroscopy, BET-surface analysis, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. For the gas-sensing results, the gas-sensing performances have been studied towards 0.005-0.1 vol% HCOOH concentrations in dry air with different operating temperatures ranging from 200 to 400°C. The gas-sensing measurement results demonstrated that the optimal 0.5 wt% graphene-loaded spinel Zn2SnO4 sensor selectively displayed the highest response of ~4970 towards HCOOH at 300°C comparing to those of the other various gases. Therefore, the effect of graphene loading on spinel Zn2SnO4 based HCOOH sensors can be an attractive choice for VOAs detection and may be useful for food science and industrial applications. |
