Abstract

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition in which breathing stops or is shallow during sleep. Patients who have had heart failure have a high chance of having OSA because of water congestion and vessel distension in the throat. This descriptive research study aimed to study awareness, knowledge and risk of obstructive sleep apnea in 354 patients who have had heart failure receiving services at an outpatient, heart clinic at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, McCormick Hospital and Lamphun Hospital, from December 2019 to May 2020. The instruments included a Demographic Data Recording Form, the Awareness and Knowledge of Obstructive Sleep Apnea questionnaire, and the Berlin Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.
