Abstract: In the rapidly developing economic landscape of China, the construction industry exhibits robust vitality as one of the pivotal pillars of the industrial economy. The elevation of people's living standards propels an escalating demand for diversified residential environments. Despite the continuous progress within the construction sector, challenges such as knowledge attrition, inefficient collaboration, and inadequate competitiveness remain. To maintain competitive advantages, construction enterprises must effectively manage knowledge and foster collaboration among stakeholders. Within this context, knowledge transfer and collaborative innovation become particularly crucial. Construction firms need to establish efficient knowledge transfer mechanisms to facilitate the sharing and further development of knowledge; meanwhile, collaborative innovation offers the potential for substantial returns. This study aims to deeply explore the key factors affecting the building decoration industry in Chengdu and the processes of knowledge transfer and collaborative innovation, and conceptualise them to provide enhanced management and decision-making support for construction enterprises. The methodology employed in this study encompasses the literature review, social network analysis, field investigation, questionnaire survey, and expert interviews. Firstly, the literature review is conducted to comprehensively understand the current status and characteristics, and challenges of China's construction and decoration industry. Subsequently, data from 19 key participants of the ZHONGRUNXINYE Construction Decoration Company in Chengdu will be collected and analysed. Social network analysis will be utilised to uncover the pivotal factors involved in knowledge transfer and collaborative innovation. Furthermore, expert interviews will be conducted to gather expert opinions and viewpoints. In the context of rapid development in the construction industry, knowledge transfer and collaborative innovation are of paramount importance for the success of construction enterprises. This study utilised social network analysis in conjunction with expert validation to identify key factors, including a conducive work environment, effective communication among project members and collaborators, talent development, leadership, and team-oriented culture. Correspondingly, a conceptual framework was developed based on these key factors to provide practical management and decision-making support to construction enterprises and foster sustained development and innovation within the construction industry.
