Abstract: | Effects of BiFeO3 (BFO) on the properties of strontium iron niobate, Sr(Fe0.5Nb0.5)O3 ceramics were investigated and synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that all ceramics exhibited a single perovskite structure with orthorhombic symmetry. The x = 0.05 ceramic showed a very high dielectric constant (εr > 40,680 at 1 kHz). By using a complex impedance analysis technique, bulk, grain boundary, and electrode responses were found to affect the dielectric behavior which could be related to the Maxwell–Wagner polarization mechanism. Furthermore, ferroelectric behavior was also found to improve for a higher amount of BFO content. |
