Abstract: A modified standard p-q current control strategy for shunt active power filter (APF) is presented in this paper. The objective of the proposed scheme is to compensate the load's reactive power in the linear system such as an inductive load, an induction motor (IM), etc. In order to regulate the unity power factor of the utility source, the linear algorithm for shunt APF is also proposed and revealed. This algorithm is realized by the PSIM software; moreover, the proposed scheme is verified through simulation results and validated on three-phase IM motor load, rated at 14.7 kVA380 V with loading from no-load to full-load. As the result, the operation of the shunt APF with the proposed algorithm is achieved the unity power factor or power factor correction at the utility source.
