Abstract: | This paper presents a new approach based on pole-placement technique for robust optimization of power system stabilizer (PSS) parameters. The parameters design is formulated as an optimization problem aimed for adjusting all system poles to be in the specific region of s-plane. It is then solved by using the genetic algorithm. The proposed method has been implemented in MATLAB environment and applied to the single machine infinite bus (SMIB) model. The preliminary results from simulation show that the proposed parameter optimization technique can further enhance the power oscillation damping compared to the conventional approach. |
