Abstract: This paper presents a study of impedance bandwidth improvement of a printed dipole antenna for DTV application. A printed dipole antenna is designed at a center frequency of 650 MHz. The grooving techniques is used to adjust the impedance bandwidth. From our study, we found that the number and position of slots are able to control the impedance bandwidth. The bandwidth of 453 MHz, supported the DTV application (470 - 862 MHz), was achieved from the 7-slot of grooving. Moreover, this proposed concept offers the advantages of a wider and better matching impedance bandwidth, while also increasing gain by around 1.13 dBi at a center frequency, from 2.28 dBi to 3.41 dBi, when compared to a basic printed dipole antenna.
