Abstract: This paper is proposed about a gain improvement of the slot antenna using a wire medium structure. The slot antennas are widely used which have low-profile and low cost to fabricate. Moreover, the parameters can also be easily controlled. It is designed for the frequency between 1.8 GHz to 6.5 GHz with average gain 4.05 dBi. These frequency ranges can be covered the bandwidths that support modern wireless communication applications such as WIFI, WiMAX, IoT, and GSM technologies. It is accepted that the wire medium structure is a type of metamaterial, a new technique that improves the performance of antenna in terms of gain, S11, and radiation pattern. From our study, the simulated results show that the appropriate wire medium structure is capable to improve the average gain from 4.05 dBi to 7.74 dBi or approximately 3.69 dBi. Furthermore, the S11 and radiation patterns have varied by parameter of wire medium also.
