Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore psychological process involved counter-urbanization among people who has migrated from the urban to the rural. The qualitative case study method has been used in this study. Data were collected by the in-depth interviews with five migrants who used to live in Bangkok and willingly moved to rural area in Thailand. After being analyzed and interpreted, the data was justified by thesis advisor and interviewers. The result reflected two themes including the Background of the Case Study and Psychological Process of Migration. To begin with the first theme, the Background of the Case Study, this part described the case studies’ experiences from the life in the civilized capital to now in the austere rural area. The second theme, Psychological Process of Migration could be divided into three main aspects. To clarify, the first aspect was the Motivation for Migration which included 1) Need of Lifestyle Changes 2) Pursuit of Dream 3 ) Need of Rural Development 4 ) Seeking for Simplicity 5 ) Avoidance of Bangkok Urbanization 6) Desire of Rural idyll 7) Persistence in Self Goal and 8) More Satisfaction in Rural Life. Next, the second aspect, Adjustment of Migration, was combined of 6 elements, including 1) Adjustment to Rural Lifestyle 2) Things to Lean on When Facing Tiredness 3) Adjustment to New Job 4) Adjustment to Less Income 5) Working Adjustment Depend on Situations and 6) Living with Different Culture and Belief. Finally, the last aspect, Mental health of Migrant, was classified into 6 elements, including 1) Courage 2) Social Support Receiving 3) Defense Mechanisms used for Anxiety 4) Resilience 5) Happiness and 6) Personal growth. The result of this research revealed the psychological process and the migration experiences and of migration among people who has migrated from the urban to the rural. These data could be used to develop the psychological counseling program for migrate.
