Abstract: | This study was quantitative research. The purposes of this study were to develop and examine a causal relationship model of factors affecting study-related burnout among high school students with the empirical data. The developed model consisted of 5 latent variables and 14 observed variables. The sample, selected by multi-stage sampling technique, consisted of 529 senior high school students. The data was collected by rating scale questionnaires, which are Study-Related Burnout questionnaire, Academic Stress questionnaire, School Engagement questionnaire and Self-Expectation questionnaire. The study found that the causal relationship model of factors affecting study-related burnout among high school students after adjusting was significantly consistent with empirical data (χ2 = 365.92, df = 64, P = .00, GFI = .91, CFI = .89, SRMR = .08). The factors that had negative affected on study-related burnout among high school students were school engagement. Self-expectation had indirect negative effect on academic stress of high school students through school engagement. School engagement had indirect negative effect on study-related burnout of high school students through academic stress. |
