Abstract: This independent study on the knowledge management in Border Patrol Police Sub Division 333, San Sai district, Chiang Mai Province, aimed at studying following; (1) the knowledge management of the personnel in Border Patrol Police 333, (2) the problems and obstacles in knowledge management of the personnel in Border Patrol Police 333, (3) the possibility of knowledge management in the Border Patrol Police 333. This independent study used quantitative research in combination with qualitative research methods which used questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Samples used in the study were the administrator and personnel from the Mortra 93 Division, Armored Car Division 1, and War dogs Division in Border Patrol Police 333. In this study there were 57 samples . The study result shows that the knowledge management of the personnel in the Border Patrol Police 333 was relatively low in areas related to providing of knowledge, knowledge-sharing and dissemination of knowledge. In the past, the Border Patrol Police only conducted training by sending personnel to train according to the action plan of the unit Problems and obstacles in knowledge management can be divided into three areas. In the leadership and personnel areas; the problems are supervisors or unit leaders do not give priority of knowledge management or recognize the value of it. Lack of understanding about knowledge management. Low commitment in order to promote the support of the workers to understand about knowledge management. In area of the personnel, the comprehension of the knowledge management process is inadequate. Too excessive workload causes the lack of continuity in practice. Lack of skill training continuously. In the organization area, the problems are insufficient budget for processing the knowledge management and the organization also have problem about technology to process knowledge management; such as technology for storing information or computer system is not adequate in order to process knowledge management. The possibility of managing staff knowledge according to their positing in Border Patrol Police sub division 333 is quite limited in many aspect. There are problems on sharing knowledge of staff in each department due to convey initiative, the mind of sharing knowledge for public’s benefit, collecting and classifying information. Furthermore there is no synthesis or record the knowledge that has been learned in order to share, or distribute to other staff in the organization and moreover the information technology data is minimal.
