Abstract

This study was aimed to study roles and responsibility of the Quantity Surveyors of construction projects in Thailand based on demand of users. The participants were classified into three groups as owner, contractor and consultants. Questionnaire for satisfaction evaluation and interview on quantity survey experts using Delphi technique were performed. Averaged satisfaction are the providing quantity surveying service in individual role under pre-defined assumptions was determined using statistical method. From this study, the sole and responsibility of the quantity surveyor can be divided into two parts. First part is the main function comprising of budget planning, value engineering management, cost estimation, analysis of cash flow, analysis of project risks, supporting information related to procurement tax, accounting and work quantity, examination how to reduce cost, contract preparation, bidding documents, quantity examination, validation of value and work done for payment, order change management, project financial statement report, planning and agreement on payment with contractor, list of project expanses and order changes, conclusion on work done and insurance contract. The second role(option function) was composed of advise and help in selection of contractor, help in negotiation, clarification on doubts, preparation documents related to payment.
