Abstract: The objectives of this study were 1) to find relationship between the fundamental personal characteristics, economic factors, social factors, farmer’s farming behavior and the participatory learning of farmers and 2) identify the issue and demand of farmers in the community rice seed production project in Chiang Mai Province. The number of observation was 80 farmers member of produce rice seed production project in 2011 conducted by the Rice Department and Department of Agriculture Extension in Mae Tang district, Mae Rim district, Doi Saket district and San Kamphaeng of Chiang Mai Provice. From research findings, it was found the most farmers were male with 51 years old in average graduated prathom 4th. Average household member were 4 persons. Most farmers are member of produce rice seed production project. Average of San Pathong Rice production area was 5.98 rais there was labor 3 persons on average. They had income 157,612.50 baht/rai on average, with the production cost of 15,878.75 bath/person on average and seed yield 6,365 kilograms/rai on average. The main purpose of rice seed production was seed dispersal and got higher price than normal price. All farmer received rice production technology knowledge from their experiences and members in a group. Farmers was consulted by member themselves and also contacted with extension officers. Majority of them received the agricultural information from village broadcasting tower and from their neighbors. Farming behavior was found that their had high level on farming behavior in prepare planting land, take care of the field factor, threshing, cleaning, drying and storage. Participatory learning of farmers in the community rice seed production project in Chiang Mai Province, was found that most of them were high learning participatory on the aspect of thinking learned while it was found that their were at moderate level on the aspect of planning, operating and evaluation. Relationship among fundamental personal characteristics, economic factors, social factors, farmer’s farming behavior, and farmer participatory learning on the aspect of thinking showed that cost of production and storage condition of seed were significantly related with farmers’ learning participatory. Age of farmer, total household income, rice production cost, contact with support staff from government. In addition, and farming behavior in prepare planting land were found significant related with participatory learning in planning aspect. Production cost was related with farmer learning participatory on the aspect of an evaluation. Lastly, age and experience in attending seminar regarding a seed production had a relationship with overall aspects of farmers’ participatory learning. Problems and obstacles regarding a participatory learning of farmer members who attended the community rice seed production project in Chiang Mai were lack seed production knowledge, an inadequacy of information about seed source, inadequacy of budget allocation, and supported technology for farmer members.
