Abstract: The objectives of this independent study are to analyze formats of entertainment-education television and examine content of entertainment-education programs for children. Four entertainment-education programs from three television channels; Channel 3, Channel 7 and Thai PBS were investigated. The programs were broadcasted during 1st October until 31st December 2014. The study has shown that the high average types of children’s programs are mathematics, reading, computing and ICT literacy respectively. To examine the programs’ content, three professional producers were interviewed. The interviews were done under the standards from Office of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand. After the intensive interviews, there were two main ideas in conclusion. First, the varieties of TV content for children are different depending on audience targets and purposes of media companies. Second, excellent TV content is not only about promoting learning skills or life skills. Thus, for example, self-esteem or volunteerism in children should also be involved in TV content.
