Abstract: Alcohol Dependent Patients who are depressed cannot be happy in their daily live, this not effects only themselves, but their family and community also. Cognitive behavior therapy is a psycho-social therapy that has been shown to reduce depression among alcohol dependent patients. The purpose of this operational study was to reveal the effectiveness of implementing the brief cognitive behavior therapy program on depression among alcohol dependent patients at Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital, Chiang Mai Province. The samples were 28 alcohol dependent patients with depression who received services in IPD at Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital from October to December, 2015 and 6 nurses who implemented the program. The tools used for this study included: 1) demographic data form, 2) Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) Thai version (Lotrakul, Sumrithe, & Saipani, 2008), 3) The questionnaires of nurse’s opinions who used the brief cognitive behavior therapy program with depression among alcohol dependent patients, and 4) The Brief Cognitive Behavior Therapy Program developed by Thapinta, Skulphan, and Kittrattanapaiboon (2014) based on Beck’s theory (1995). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics.   The results of the study revealed that: 1. Depression scores of 28 alcohol dependent patients decrease from mild and moderate level to none depression when the brief cognitive behavior therapy program finished and then 4 weeks follow up; 2. Six nurses shared their opinion on using the brief cognitive behavior therapy program completely agreed with every item and recognized the value of the program. The results of this study indicated that the brief cognitive behavior therapy program has effectiveness for decreasing depression among alcohol dependent patients at Suan Prung Psychiatric Hospital, Chiang Mai Province and the nurses who implemented the program completely agreed with every item and recognized the value of the program for practice in the unit.
