Abstract: Paternal health literacy among expectant fathers having high-risk pregnant wives is important for promoting the health status of the father, the mother, and the fetus. This descriptive correlational study aimed to investigate paternal health literacy and its related factors. The participants consisted of 152 expectant fathers having high-risk pregnant wives who visited antenatal care at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital and Health Promotion Center First Region Chiang Mai, between October 2023 and March 2024. Research instruments included the Paternal Health Literacy Among Expectant Fathers Having High Risk Pregnant Wives Questionnaire adapted from Sonted et al. (2022), the Thai version of the Perceived Stress Scale by Wongpakaran and Wongpakaran (2010), and the Social Support Questionnaire for Expectant Fathers Having High Risk Pregnant Wives by Naewchalee (2007). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient statistics. The results revealed that: 1. The majority of participants (96.05%) had a high level of paternal health literacy, with a mean score of 408.89 (SD = 33.73). 2. Stress had a negative significant correlation with paternal health literacy (rS = -.353, p < .001), while social support had a positive significant correlation with paternal health literacy among expectant fathers having high-risk pregnant wives (r = .539, p < .001). The findings of this research can be utilized as foundational data to promote paternal health literacy among expectant fathers having high-risk pregnant wives by reducing stress and providing social support. This aims to maintain their own good health, enabling them to take care and support their wives during a high-risk pregnancy.
