Abstract: This independent study research aims to study the community context and factors that promote Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Ban Thawai Wood Carving Production, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai Province. Additionally, the study aims to examine the involvement of community networks with local organizations in promoting small enterprises within the Ban Thawai wood carving community for long-term sustainable community development. The study adopts a mixed-method research approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data were collected using questionnaires and in-depth semi-structured interviews from a sample of 75 individuals. The sample included 4 personnel from the Khun Khong Sub district Administrative Organization, 1 village headman, 10 representatives from the Ban Thawai Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) group, 5 representatives from the Ban Thawai craft group, 15 shop representatives, 20 local residents, and 20 tourists. The study found that (1) the factors promoting and preserving the craftsmanship of carved wooden artifacts in the Ban Thawai community include the use of cultural capital to promote tourism and the creation of products that reflect the community's identity (2) the involvement of community networks with local organizations is strong in joint operations but remains limited compared to the needs and potential of the community. Currently, the collaboration between community partners and local organizations has not yet been fully realized in relation to the community's needs and capabilities.
