Abstract

Multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) are an important global public health problem, contributing to increased morbidity and mortality rates. Therefore, providing education for nurses on the transmission of MDROs by using innovative media is crucial to the successful prevention of MDROs and decrease in hospital-associated infections. This developmental research aimed to develop a web application for MDROs transmission prevention for nurses. The sample consisted of 42 nurses who were working in medical wards at a tertiary hospital in Bangkok. Research was conducted from December, 2019 to May, 2020. Research instruments included a development and design plan for the web application, a web application user opinion questionnaire, a demographic data questionnaire, a unit test on preventing MDROs transmission, a post-test on preventing MDROs transmission, and a web application satisfaction questionnaire, all of which were validated by six content experts and three media experts. The content validity index of the unit test, the post-test, and the web application satisfaction questionnaire was .98, .99 and 1.00, respectively and the reliability was .80, .82, and .94, respectively. The efficiency of the web application was tested using one-to-one, small group, and field tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.
