Abstract: Nowadays, the overhead lines system faces landscape problems. The many wires hanging in the air obscures the beautiful scenery and affects the growth of trees. There is also a risk of short circuit. which caused a fire, so bringing the wires underground or changing to an underground cable system is one way to solve these problems. The purpose of this study was to assess the life cycle GHG emissions of overhead lines system compared to underground cable system. The scope of assessment included the acquisition of raw materials, the installation construction as well as the operating stage. The functional unit of the assessment was per distance of 1 kilometer of a 22 kV power system supplying power for a period of 70 years. The study found that the overhead lines system emitted 12,942,026.10 kgCO2e/km of greenhouse gases, while the underground cables system emitted 7,904,692.31 kgCO2e/km, with both systems having the greatest impact on the operating process. which is 99.51 percent in case of overhead lines system and 98.22 percent in case of underground cables system.
