Abstract: Persons who have chronic kidney disease and undergo continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis encounter the disease’s consequences and its treatment methods, resulting in reduced quality of life. This predictive research aimed to determine factors influencing the self-management behavior of persons with chronic kidney disease undergoing continuous peritoneal dialysis. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 90 persons, including 65 receiving service at the outpatient department of the, peritoneal dialysis clinic at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, and 25 persons receiving service at the peritoneal dialysis, clinic at Chiang Mai Kidney Clinic Co., Ltd., from May 2022 to October 2022. Research instruments consisedt of 1) a Health Literacy Assessment Form for persons with chronic kidney disease receiving continuous peritoneal dialysis; 2) a Social Support Assessment form for persons with chronic kidney disease receiving continuous peritoneal dialysis; 3) the Thai version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (Thai HADS), and 4) a Self-management Behaviors Questionnaire for persons with chronic kidney disease receiving continuous peritoneal dialysis. The psychometric properties of these instruments were approved before data collection. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics and multiple regression. The results revealed that: 1. Most participants (97.78%) demonstrated an overall score of self-management behavior at a good level. When considering each sub-dimensions, all participants had scores of medical self-management behavior (100.00%) at a good level. More than half of them had role self-management behavior and emotional self-management behavior scores at a good level (65.56% and 56.67%, respectively) 2. An equal and higher median group of social support (ß = 4.84, SE = .30) and a group of depression (ß = - 6.77, SE = -.21) predicted 17.4% of the self-management behavior. However, health literacy did not predict self-management. This research demonstrated that chronic kidney disease patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis have good self-management. Additionally, interventions for enhancing SMB should include promoting social support and reducing depression. However, these three factors predicted self-management at a low percentage. Therefore, further studies should explore other factors predicting self-management among persons with chronic kidney disease undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
