Abstract: | Traffic accidents is a principal problem in Thailand. It's necessary to prevent and repair urgently. The number of accidents and deaths in Thailand increasing dramatically in every year. Traffic accidents not only impact with economic but also impact with environment, quality of life and the state of mind of the people. This research was conducted to analyse the factor that influencing to the Willingness-to-Pay (WTP) and estimate WTP for road fatality reduction in Chiang Mai by using Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and Kishi's Logit Model Price Sensitivity Measurement (KLP). Collected from the questionnaire, the 400 samples of road users in Chiang Mai City was surveyed. The results showed that Gender, Occupation, Individuals Income, Alcohol Using and Accident Experience are factors related to WTP significantly. The willingness-to-pay of sample groups who travel in Chiang Mai City by CVM, WTP from motorcyclists is 1,312 bath perperson, WTP from car users is 2 ,456 bath perperson and the average of both sample groups equal to 1 ,884 bath perperson. By KPL, the reasonable WTP from motorcyclists is 726 bath perperson, the reasonable WTP from car users is 2,355 bath perperson and the average of sample groups the reasonable WTP equals to 1,540 bath perperson. The Value of Statistical Life (VSL) by CVM is 12.39 millions bath perperson. By KLP the reasonable VSL equals to 10.13 millions bath perperson. The results of this study can be using for reveal to population to understand and realize from tha impacts of road accidents, to analyze the direct benefits of development or construction projects related to road traffic, to used as a supporting data for analysis of policy planning to reduce road accidents and to improving road safety on the most optimal project within a limited budget and assess the effectiveness of completed projects. |
