Abstract: | The objective of this research was to study the basic social and economic factors of Village Agricultural Volunteers in Phayao province, analyze their training needs for capacity building, and examine the problems and suggestions for their performance. The population included 808 Village Agricultural Volunteers, and a sample size of 163 was determined using Taro Yamane's formula at a 93% confidence level. Data was collected through interviews, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The study found that most village agricultural volunteers were male, had an average age of 52.47 years old, and had a high school education/vocational level. They had been in the position for an average of 4.99 years and held social positions such as the village headman and the village headman's assistant. Most were members of the local farmer institute group, and their average income in 2021 was 172,747.24 baht, with an average outstanding debt of 235,938.65 baht. They received most agricultural news through personal media such as neighbors and agricultural officials and had an average of 3.59 contacts with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives per month. The study also found that the village agricultural volunteers' needs for training according to their roles were at a moderate level (X ̅ 2.24). collecting basic information about agriculture in the village (X ̅ 2.42) and monitoring the agricultural situation in the village and reporting urgent emergencies to relevant agencies (X ̅ = 2.32). In addition, the village agricultural volunteers had a moderate level of need for training other than roles (X ̅ = 2.19), which focused on the correct use of agricultural chemicals (X ̅ = 2.45) in production. and the use of biochemicals in agriculture (X ̅ = 2.36) and agricultural marketing principles (X ̅ = 2.32). The results of the hypothesis testing revealed that the factors that had a positive correlation with the demand Training to develop the potential of village agricultural volunteers in Phayao Province, including positions social and educational level with statistical significance at the 0.05 level and the correlation factors Negative towards the need for training to develop the potential of village agricultural volunteers in Phayao Province was age with a statistical significance at the 0.05 level. All 3 factors were able to create a forecasting equation at 29.20 percent. Based on the study of problems and suggestions affecting the performance of village agricultural volunteers in Phayao Province, it seems that there are several factors that hinder their effectiveness. One major issue is the lack of supporting factors and working budgets, which can make it difficult for these volunteers to carry out their duties effectively. Additionally, farmers in the area may not fully understand the roles and responsibilities of village agricultural volunteers, which can further hinder their performance. To address these issues, the village agricultural volunteers have suggested several solutions. For example, they believe that there should be compensation for allowances, meeting allowances, and travel expenses to help them perform their duties. Officials should also contact and meet with volunteers more frequently to organize meetings and provide support. Additionally, there should be a greater effort to publicize the roles and duties of village agricultural volunteers so that farmers can become more aware of their importance. |
