Abstract: Preschool children are at the most critical stage of brain development in which positive discipline in raising children has been positively correlated with brain development, social development, emotional development, communication and behavior. Caregivers are important persons for fostering positive discipline in preschool-aged children. This quasi-experimental research was done to compare the positive discipline enhancement of preschool children’s caregivers between the control and the experimental groups and to compare positive discipline enhancement of preschool children’s caregivers before and after participating in the empowerment enhancement program. The sample for the study consisted of 38 caregivers for preschool children who lived in Ontai sub-district, Chiang Mai province, from April to June 2022. The sample was selected according to qualifications, and participants were divided into a control and an experimental group of 19 people each. The control group did not receive the empowerment enhancement program on positive discipline, while the experimental group did. The research instruments were 1) the empowerment enhancement program on positive discipline of preschool children’s caregivers; 2) the positive discipline enhances empowerment manual for preschool children’s caregivers; and 3) a form on positive discipline enhancement of the preschool children’s caregiver. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and T-test. The results revealed that the average positive discipline enhancement scores of preschool children’s caregivers who received the empowerment enhancement program were significantly higher than those of caregivers who did not received the empowerment enhancement program on positive discipline (p < .001). It was also found that the positive discipline enhancement scores of preschool children’s caregivers, after participating in the empowerment enhancement program, were significantly higher than before participating (p < .001). The research findings will be able to guide pediatric nurses to appropriately enhance the positive discipline of preschool children’s caregivers.
