The objectives were to compare mean scores for practices to prevent motorcycle injuries in junior high school students in the experimental group, who received the 8-week motivation enhancement program, before and after receiving the program, and between the experimental group and a control group who received regular school health services. The sample group consisted of 71 persons in junior high school in Mathayom 1-3 students who ride motorcycles, aged 13 to 15 years, with 35 persons in the experimental and 36 persons in the control groups. The study was conducted in Saraphi District, Chiang Mai Province during February-March 2022. The research tools consisted of the following 1) the motivation enhancement program on practices to prevent motorcycle injuries in junior high school students; 2) a guidebook on practices to prevent motorcycle injuries; and 3) a record form of practices to prevent motorcycle injuries. The tools used for data collection consisted of a demographic questionnaire and a questionnaire on practices to prevent motorcycle injuries which was verified for content accuracy by six experts and the content validity index was 0.96 and a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.82. General demographic data were analyzed using descriptive statistics; data on practices to prevent motorcycle injuries were analyzed using the paired sample t-test and the independent sample t-test The results revealed that the experimental group who received the 8-week motivation enhancement program had mean scores for practices to prevent motorcycle injuries (X ̅=4.26, S.D.=0.31), higher scores than before receiving the program (X ̅=3.71, S.D.=0.43), and higher scores than the control group who received regular school health services (X ̅=3.88, S.D.=0.34) with statistical significance (p<0.05). The results show that the motivation enhancement program can promote practices for preventing motorcycle injuries in junior high school students. The results of this research will be beneficial to community nurse practitioners and health care teams who can be use it as a guideline for organizing activities with schools for enhance motivation among junior high school students to practice preventing motorcycle injuries and reducing the loss of life that may occur.
