Abstract: Building materials are one of the most important components in construction work. And in each construction, material wastage always occurs. Whether material handling construction work or collecting material piles, the wastage of these materials affects the cost of construction work. So when we estimate and cost construction works, the material loss' quantity will be added to the amount of work; obtained from the removal according to the drawings. The increasing quantity will affect the construction cost of the project. If there is an excess of material loss, the construction cost will increase, which may result in price competition in the auction. Or if the allowance for the material loss is too little inconsistent for the actual quantity used, it may result in additional costs of purchasing materials from the set cost. That results in reduced profit or loss. This research collected data from the BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and compared it with the resulting material usage in building construction work of Chiangmai Rimdoi Public Company Limited. The research aims to find the percentage of material wastage, suitable for each type of material and use it as a standard for calculating construction costs for other projects. It was found that the percentage of material loss exceeded the percentage of loss that the materials used by the company in the cost calculation to estimate the price; which is generally in the range of 10% -15% of the quantity calculated from the drawing. And from finding the percentage of loss, it is found that some materials had an extremely high percentage of losses, such as adhesives, grout, lightweight masonry mortar, and Mon-masonry mortar, which resulted in higher construction costs. It may be necessary to look at the cause of a large amount of material waste if it can control the loss that occurs or not.
