|Abstract:||This independent study aimed at exploring an enhancement of auto-part warehouse management efficiency for Buanhengkarnchang Lamphun to reduce operation cost and minimize errors. Stocked products should be precisely and promptly found and collected to respond to customer’s need in the most effective way. The study on the efficiency enhancement of warehouse management applied the fishbone diagram to track down causes of problems. In addition, the 5S management concept was also applied as the guideline to identify the ways to improve warehouse management efficiency by defining product code, product details, shelf position and date of stock received, designing store plan and clear labeled storage board according to the Visual Control and First-In First-Out principles. Results of the study on warehouse operation system by measuring time being spent for every activity at the warehouse for 3 months presented as follows. At the pre-enhancement stage, warehouse operation process was divided into 4 stages: receipt, storage, dispatch, and stocktaking. Disk brake pads consumed 143.89 minutes in average in each operation cycle and had 72 times of the loss of sales opportunity along with 6 times of stocktaking error. According to the fishbone diagram analysis to track down causes of problems, the cause of problems came from the contradiction between operation and storing processes, which made the staff unable to perform tasks efficiently: taking a lot of time to find products and serving too slow service to customers. At the post- enhancement stage of warehouse management, which the 5S management concept, Visual Control, and FIFO were applied,the time being spent for every activity at the warehouse was lessen. At the post-enhancement stage, the disk brake pads consumed 16.34 minutes in average in each operation cycle, of which the ratio was reduced from the pre-enhancement stage at 88.64% per operation cycle. There were 2 times of the loss of sales opportunity found at the post-enhancement stage, of which the ratio was reduced from the pre-enhancement stage at 97.22%. In addition, at the post-enhancement stage, error in stocktaking process was not detected. It could be clearly observed that at the post-enhancement stage, the time being spent in every process and the problems of disk brake pads’ dispatch were shortened. Therefore, the business could gain more efficiency in responding to customer’s needs.|
