Abstract: Pain among injured persons is inevitable. Those faced with pain need appropriate pain management. Emergency nurses are health personnel who play a significant role in pain management. The purpose of this study were to examine the knowledge and attitudes regarding pain and pain management in injured persons among emergency nurses as well as to ascertain the relationships between these two variables. The results of the study revealed that: The sample consisted of 113 registered nurses who worked at emergency departments in Lampang province. The duration of study was from December 2019 to January 2020. Data collection instruments were the demographic record form; the Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain Questionnaire (KASRP) developed by Ferrell and McCaffery (2014) and translated into Thai by the researchers and advisors using back-translation techniques; and the Pain Management Questionnaire developed by the researcher based on a literature review. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Sample had knowledge and attitude about pain at a low level (X̅ = 21.19 and S.D. 3.06); 2. Sample had pain management in injured person at a high level (X̅ = 124.74 and S.D. 15.88); and 3. Sample’s knowledge and attitude regarding pain didn’t have a statistically positive relationship with the pain management in injured persons (p >.05). The results from this study can be used to guide plan development for improving pain management among emergency nurses in emergency departments.
