Abstract

The independent study titled, “Users’ Acceptance Level of CMU e-Document Systems in Chiang Mai University” aimed at analyzing 1) the level of users acceptance towards CMU e-document systems in Chiang Mai University, 2) the factors affecting acceptance behaviors of CMU e-document systems users towards CMU e-document systems in Chiang Mai University, and 3) problems along with recommendations and guidelines for developing the CMU e-document Systems of Chiang Mai University. The researcher collected data from the samples, which were 103 filing clerks and clerical officers of 53 faculties and sectors under Chiang Mai University who were responsible for taking care of the e-document systems, receiving documents, and transferring documents to other users in the system. The issues for questions were specified regarding the Unified Technology Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model of Venkatesh, Davis and Morris (2003). The tool used in the study was a questionnaire surveying the level of acceptance of users towards e-document systems in Chiang Mai University. Data were collected by using statistical analysis programs and descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Moreover, inferential statistics such as simple regression analysis, independent-samples T-Test, and one-way ANOVA were used with a statistical significance level of 0.05.

From the results, it can be concluded that acceptance levels towards e-document systems of users in Chiang Mai University were at a high level. The factors affecting users’ acceptance behaviors were experience, voluntariness, performance expectancies, effort expectancies, social influences and facilitating conditions. However, sex and age did not affect their behaviors. In terms of problems in e-document system operation, most of the users found that the procedure was so complicated and difficult that they did not know how to operate the systems. Therefore, it was suggested that e-document systems should be improved first for easier usability.
