Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structure of men's terms, meaning of men's terms, and paradigms about men in Khaosaw literature and collect data from ten stories of Khaosaw literature from the Pratueng Wittaya Shop edition, 1968. The study used literary language immediate constituent analysis componential analysis and paradigm. The total of men's terms were found 284 words 1,624 positions. The result of structure of men's terms that men's terms in Khaosaw literature have two main components: the main part and expanded part. The main part have important composition which is the main term that must consistently appear in the structure of men's terms, the expanded part which is the expanded term that were front modifier and hind modifier. These modifiers describe aspects such as the male character’s gender, status, rank and prestige The structure of men's terms can be classified four structures, the main part structure, the main part with main part structure, the main part with expanded part, and the expanded part with main part. The result of meaning of men's terms in Khaosaw literature: 284 words, can be classified two groups: men's terms with only one feature, feature [+man] and men's terms that appear specific meaning, namely feature [+man]. Men's terms with feature [+man] and indicating with some qualification. This can be seperated into eight groups that appear specific qualifications, namely: feature [+has merit], feature [+ has lineage of the buddha], feature [+beautiful appearance], feature [+was loved], feature [+value], feature [+youthful], feature [+authority], and feature [+ability]. In adition, the result of meaning of men's terms in Khaosaw literature can be understandable for the concepts of men's terms in Khaosaw literature. The result of paradigm of men's terms in Khaosaw literature have 3 paradigms. Paradigm of buddhism, paradigm of governance and paradigm of culture. Each paradigm make reflection belief and popularity, viewpiont of lanna people and the practice of lanna people relate to those paradigm. All paradigms can be created the whole of men's terms in Khaosaw literature: 284 words. The paradigms about men in Khaosaw literature can understand about thought, culture and tranditions in Khaosaw literature and popularity of people from the past to men character in Khaosaw literature.
