Abstract: Outbreaks of respiratory infections in children aged 0-4 years at early child development centers have been continuously increasing. Therefore, screening for respiratory infections by teachers at these centers is crucial in preventing occurrence of the disease. This quasi-experimental research, using a two-group pretest-posttest design, aimed to study the effects of an experiential learning program on the respiratory infection screening practices of teachers in early child development centers. The sample consisted of 48 teachers from these centers, divided into a control group of 24 and an experimental group of 24, selected through purposive sampling. The research tools used included: 1) tools for conducting the research: an experiential learning program developed by the researcher based on experiential learning theory, spanning 6 weeks, along with PowerPoint presentations, video media, a manual, and a demonstration kit for respiratory infection screening practices; and 2) tools for data collection: an evaluation form for respiratory infection screening practices in children, which was reviewed and revised by six experts, achieving a content validity index of 1 and a reliability of 0.83 Participants’ general data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and independent t-test statistics. The results showed that the group that received the program had a statistically significantly higher average score for respiratory infection screening practices after receiving the program compared to before receiving it (p < .001). Moreover, after receiving the program, the experimental group had a statistically significantly higher average score for respiratory infection screening practices than the control group (p = .001). The research findings can be used to promote effective respiratory infection screening practices by teachers in early child development centers.
