Abstract: Due to the imbalance between the increasing number of elderly people and the working-age population in Thailand, a solution must be found to ensure that the elderly population aged 60 to 69, who still have the potential to work, can take care of themselves without placing excessive work burdens on the elderly. Studies have found that cordyceps mushroom cultivation is easy to manage, requires minimal cultivation space, and can generate significant income. To reduce the workload for the elderly in cultivating cordyceps mushrooms, artificial intelligence has been developed to monitor the growth of the mushrooms by calculating volume and weight to check for abnormal growth trends. The volume and weight calculation methods use the Shell Method to compute the volume of the mushrooms through 2D photographs taken from different angles and then averaging the volume of the mushrooms. When using artificial intelligence to detect 2D images, it was found that the AI could only detect mushrooms in images without reflections or excessive light, making it inefficient when used inside mushroom cultivation cabinets. Additionally, when using the Shell Method to calculate volume, the volume could not be accurately computed because the AI detects the edges of the mushrooms in the images, and when rotating to find the volume, there is a considerable excess volume in the mushroom caps.
