Dae Paw Thoo: Sculpture for awareness and conservation of the forest

Abstract

The dissertation title: Dae Paw Thoo Sculpture for Forest Conservation Awareness in the field of Art and Design aims to study the cultural context and lifestyle of Pakakayo people in northern Thailand. The aspects of history, concepts, ideas, and beliefs in natural conservation and environment. The literature reviews, theories, and research in the context of related artworks to issue 1. Dae Paw Thoo 2. 37 Spirits 3. the rotating farm and 4. Pakakayo’s weaving machines were studied. For data processing analysis then proceeded for synthesis and applied to the integration of Pakakayo's were defined as a concept of bamboo weaving technique to create the sculpture, Dae Paw Thoo: Sculpture for forest conservation awareness to stimulate the awareness of natural environment protection, and presented as descriptive pattern. The research findings are found that; 1) Culture The lifestyle, belief system, and religious system of Pakakayo ethnic group in northern Thailand closely link people in the society, and they still exist in the consciousness of Pakakayo ethnic group through rituals, which the relationship between man, nature, and supernatural, thus maintaining the concept of lifestyle, belief, respect and protection of nature and environment.
