Abstract: This study aims to investigate the management guideline of Green Hotels in Chiang Mai Province in order to provide practical recommendations that hotels and other relevant businesses can utilize and implement these guidelines into their operations. The results of the study were obtained through the interviewing of five hotel representatives who were chosen from a list of hotels that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Environmental Quality Promotion had guaranteed to be a part of all Green Hotels in Chiang Mai in the previous year. Concepts and theories of Green Hotels were utilized to create an interview form which was divided into four sections, including (1) general information (2) management guideline of Green Hotels in seven categories (3) future hotel policies or initiatives that hoteliers would like to see implemented more frequently in the following years and (4) recommendations The findings demonstrated that all hotels involved in the Green Hotels initiative operated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, can set up clear service guidelines and management strategies that completely correspond with the seven categories of Green Hotels Standards as follows. Under the first category “Green Hotels Policies,” all hotels currently use glass bottles instead of plastic bottles and all personnel are capable of sorting wastes. The second category “Personnel Development,” all hotels always schedule staff meetings correspondence to Green Hotels guidelines. The third category “Public Relation Campaigns,” all hotels provide information to customers via online and offline platforms to enlighten about environmental issues. The fourth category “Green procurements,” all hotels select and use eco-friendly resources within their operations. The fifth category, all hotels utilize reused water from wastewater treatment for tasks such as tree watering and cleaning public areas. The sixth category, all hotels always participate in social and community activities such as planting trees and attending religious ceremony. The seventh category, all hotels give their patrons the opportunity to submit satisfaction surveys both online and offline platforms for evaluation and feedback. The researcher has provided recommendations for hotels and other relevant businesses that aim to include these prerequisites within their operations. The first recommendation is that hoteliers should work and cooperate with executive teams to establish precise rules for Green Hotels practices such as financial usage, hotel operations, and process adaption. The second recommendation is for hoteliers to enhance their operations in line with the seven categories of Green Hotels standards. Under the first category, "Green Hotels policies," hotels are required to develop clear policies and convey all pertinent data to all relevant departments. The second category “Personnel Development,” hotel operators should continuously schedule staff meetings pertaining to Green Hotels’ practices. Under the third category “Public Relations Campaigns,” hotels ought to develop and showcase a "Go Green" concept within an organization. The fourth category “Green procurements,” hotels must utilize and promote local products which are made in the northern region. The fifth category “Hotels’ management of Environment and Power,” hotel operators should consider installing a waste water treatment pond on hotel property if their funding is sufficient. The sixth category “Community Involvement,” hotels ought to participate in neighborhood activities such as tree planting and supporting local products. For the seventh category “Evaluation of Green Hotels practices,” hotel operators should arrange meetings with an aim to assess about Green Hotel practices and exchange perspectives among all staff members.
