Abstract: The current study were (1) to examine the relationship between work as a calling, person - environment fit and career engagement and (2) to study the mediating role of congruence between the person - environment fit in the relationship between work as a calling and career engagement. Participants were 324 rescue volunteers in the northern part of Thailand. The research instruments were personal characteristics questionnaire, the Work as a Calling Scale, the Person - Environment Fit Scale and the Career Engagement Scale. Data were analyzed using the Causal Steps method and Sobel's Test. The research results found that work as a calling could significantly predict career engagement and person - environment fit. Person - environment fit could significantly predict career engagement. The work as a calling had an indirect effect on career engagement through person - environment fit.
