Abstract

This research aims to: 1) study the success of the operations of the natural resource conservation network in Ban Mae Tung Ting, and 2) examine the problems and obstacles of the network’s operations at Ban Mae Tung Ting and identify solutions. This qualitative research used interviews as a tool to gather data from government agencies and the public. The study found that the operations of Ban Mae Tung Ting’s natural resource conservation network share common characteristics including a shared perspective, a common vision, mutual interests or benefits, participation of all network members, mutual reinforcement, support, and exchange interactions. Regarding problems, obstacles, and solutions, the findings suggest that: (1) there should be coordination and collaboration in conservation activities at the subgroup level; (2) the public’s understanding of the laws related to natural resource conservation is insufficient, hence there is a need to enhance legal knowledge among the citizens; and (3) given the changes over time from when the network was successful and the changing age of the community members, it is essential to pass on experiences from successful leaders to the new generation to ensure the network’s continued operation.
