Abstract

"Transition of Thoughts Through Existing Relations" presents the recording of the threads of my memories. It encompasses the interconnected meanings between the jackfruit tree, my elderly grandfather, and the rural lifestyle in the northern countryside amidst changes in societal and cultural contexts. The narrative begins by discussing the intertwined relationships with my grandfather, who planted the jackfruit tree with a deep belief in the concept of supporting culture, thoughts, beliefs, and traditions passed down from previous generations. This connection weaves through cultural food, leading to a ritual involving my hair, which is buried beneath the jackfruit tree. In the present era, the relationship between people and nature has faded, possibly causing certain aspects of lifestyles or meanings to disappear under the conditions of time. However, within my home, the essence and shadow of the jackfruit tree remain thick amid change. This marks the beginning of revisiting and exploring the stories scattered in the home, seeking the threads of relationships between the grandfather and the jackfruit tree, and considering ways of sustaining relationships during times of change before they disappear. By reflecting on the ways relationships endure during ongoing transformations, this is manifested through the collection and reinterpretation in the language of art. Presented through the work that utilizes sunlight, objects of memories, and moving images, with thoughts from the current perspective, intertwining enduring relationships with contemplation of the constant connection that withstands the change of time.
