Abstract: Aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain damage, presents substantial communication obstacles. Although speech and language therapy are essential for rehabilitation, accessibility challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic have impeded its delivery. Telepractice has emerged as an alternative therapy model, yet there is currently limited research on its application specifically within the aphasia population in Thailand. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of telespeech therapy in aphasia and evaluate satisfaction levels among both patients and their caregivers. Sixteen participants, consisting of eight aphasia patients and their caregivers, were included in the study. Pre- and post-assessments utilized the Thai Adaptation of the Western Aphasia Battery (TWAB) and satisfaction surveys. A 1-month telespeech therapy, comprising 12 sessions, was conducted. Analysis of TWAB scores indicated a significant improvement in the Aphasia Quotient (AQ) Median difference (min, max) = -2.45 (-14.9,-0.6), p = 0.011.Patients 2 and 3,the severity of aphasia improved from moderate to mild. Other six patients, the severity of aphasia did not change, although the test scores differed across individuals. Participants reported high to highest satisfaction levels (people with aphasia = 3/3, care givers = 4.75/5 ). This study underscores the effectiveness of telespeech therapy in aphasia, while fostering satisfaction among both patients and their caregivers.
