Abstract

The present study mainly aimed to investigate 1) the operational process of the academic support personnel in accordance to the internationalization policy of Chiang Mai University 2) the characteristic of the academic support personnel to work in promoting the internationalization policy of Chiang Mai University, and 3) the development of academic support personnel to work in promoting the internationalization policy of Chiang Mai University. This qualitative study employed the interview collection method, and the participants were 11 executives and academic support personnel working in international relations and international programs belonging to various faculties/colleges/institutes. The data revealed that the university personnel who worked in international relations and international programs have the potential to implement the policy. That is they had sufficient skills and ability to implement the policy. However, in terms of the attitude and enthusiasm of the personnel, it was found that each job segment was different depending on the structure of the organization, and resources that facilitated operations, especially, the administrators' clarity of policy interpretation and assigning plans/projects/activities to the officials.
