Abstract: Purposes: To study the dissolution behavior of hydrothermally treated Titanium nitride-hydroxyapatite on PEEK when being immersed in simulated body fluid solution at various times Materials and Methods: 27 PEEK discs were prepared and coated with TiN-Ha via pulsed Magnetron sputtering followed by Hydrothermal treatment. Then, divide into 3 discs per group for 9 groups. The specimens were immersed in SBF solution for 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 28, and 56 days. The amount of calcium and Phosphorus in SBF was quantified by Inductively Coupled plasma - OES. The coating surface was chemically characterized by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy( XPS ), evaluation of crystallinity of coating by XRD, evaluation of the surface roughness by AFM, and surface morphology was analyzed by SEM. Results: The dissolution process of coating in SBF solution was occurring in a dynamic process. These processes affected both the physical and chemical properties of coatings. After being immersed for 56 days, The coating remained with loosed density compared with before. Conclusion: The dissolution process of coating in SBF solution was a dynamic process and affected both the physical and chemical quality of the coatings. The coating remained after 56 days of immersion and the Ca/P ratio of coatings during immersion time was 0.64-1.284
