Abstract: | The objectives of this study are 1) to study the economic and social development of the Hmong people at Tangzi village that changed in each era in relation to development policies of local and central governments; 2) to study the social capital that the Hmong people in Tangzi village have and use to bring about economic and social changes; 3) to learn the meaning of modernization resulting from Socio-economic changes occurred in Tang Village. The study was conducted at Tangzi village, Matang town, Wenshan city, Yunnan province, with a total of 131 households and a total population of 575 people. Emphasis was placed on qualitative research by using ethnographic data collection methods (ethnography), which is the main research methodology in anthropology. The study found that 1) The economic and social developments of the Hmong people at Tangzi Village that change in each era. It is related to the development policies of local and central governments; 2) Cultural transfer aims to create awareness and understanding of that culture in order to maintain the culture in accordance with the changing times. For Hmong embroidery, it can be considered that it is important to reflect the way of life and cultural stories of Hmong women that have been handed down from generation to generation influenced by beliefs, legends or stories and patterns that have been adapted to the era according to the needs of the consumer trend; 3) Promotion of village economic development focus on building modernization by accelerating the creation of beautiful villages. Brazil mushroom cultivation and ox fighting for toursim are the two main sources of income among the Hmong villagers. |
