Abstract: Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand is the largest power producer in Thailand. With forthcoming global climate crisis, carbon capture and storage technology is necessary. In this work, a laboratory-scale, amine-based CO2 absorption and stripping setup was assembled. Its performance test was carried out using monoethanolamine at 30% concentration handling simulated flue gas conditions similar to those from Mae Moh coal-fired power plant for a range of lean CO2 loadings. The test results of carbon absorption experiment obtained were about 96.0 – 97.1% capture efficiency. After capturing process, the rich solvent was fed to the Stripper for regenerating CO2. It was found that regeneration energy of 5.4 – 7.2 MJ/kg CO2 was needed at the same lean CO2 loading. The setup seemed to be useful for practical engineers to carry out further studies and gain experiences with a laboratory CCS system.
